Transit vehicles.
(1) The driver of a vehicle shall yield the right-of-way to a transit vehicle traveling in the same direction that has signalled and is reentering the traffic flow.
(2) Nothing in this section shall operate to relieve the driver of a transit vehicle from the duty to drive with due regard for the safety of all persons using the roadway.
Safety Practices for Riders
Bus safety is crucial for both passengers and drivers to ensure a smooth and secure journey. For passengers, it's important to be aware of some basic safety guidelines. When boarding a bus, it's essential to wait for the bus to come to a complete stop before approaching the door. Once inside, find a secure seat and hold on to the handrails or straps if standing. Avoid distracting the driver or causing any disturbances that could potentially compromise the safety of the vehicle.
Furthermore, passengers should be cautious while getting off the bus, especially in busy or high-traffic areas. Wait for the bus to come to a complete stop before standing up, and use the handrails and steps provided to exit safely. Always look both ways before crossing the street and follow any instructions provided by the bus driver to ensure a safe departure.
The safety of children while they board the bus is of utmost importance. Bus drivers are aware of children trying to catch the bus and will wait a few extra moments for them to safely reach the bus. Children do not need to feel rushed or compelled to run to catch the bus. Our bus drivers prioritize the well-being of young passengers.
